When our founder Margaret got engaged, she knew she wanted to walk down the aisle in a white bridal suit. The problem: no one in her area made women’s custom bridal suits, much less a white one. What followed was months of trying to make a suit built for a man work for her. It was a disaster. The wrong fabric. The wrong fit. The wrong color. A tailor who kept telling her that what she wanted was unreasonable.
By her wedding day, she was no longer dreaming of looking beautiful. She just wanted to feel secure enough to walk down the aisle.
Her experience is the reason M & M Suit Shop exists. It’s also why we built a very intentional process.
Your first appointment is a free consultation. We sit down together and we have a conversation. We talk about your wedding, your style, your inspiration, and your vision. We answer questions, talk about our process, and take a lot of notes. Our goal is to get to know you a bit and for you to get to know us. Some of our clients are initially nervous about this appointment, but the reality is the conversation is for you to help address any concerns you may have. We walk you through every single step.
At the end of the appointment, if you are ready to move forward, we take your measurements or if you are virtual, we send you videos on how to get your measurements. Then, over the next month, we craft your mock suit.
About a month later, you come in for your customization and styling appointment. This is the big one. This is when clients bring their people, it’s the equivalent of finding “the dress” for a wedding.
The appointment begins with you putting on your mock suit for the first time. You see the silhouette. You feel how it moves. You immediately notice what you love about it and what might need to be adjusted. The is the first time that your suit, which has lived entirely in your imagination steps into the room with you.
Next, we do the fun part. On the table are 15 fabrics that you have indicated you really wanted to see. They are there before you to touch, visualize, and see in a variety of lights. Once you select a fabric, lining, and buttons, we then finalize every detail together. We start with your suit jacket and customize it from top to bottom, move to the pants, and end with a vest or shirt. Nothing is carried over from a template. Nothing is decided without you.
You leave this appointment finally knowing what your suit will look like.
Your third appointment is the final fitting. A couple of months after your consultation, your finished suit is ready, and it is yours!
You try it on, move around in it, and make sure everything feels right. If anything needs a minor adjustment, we connect you with our trusted tailoring partner at a discounted rate.
This is the ah appointment. The one where you look in the mirror with your suit and accessories and finally get to see you. The you who will be walking down the aisle in an outfit that actually makes you confident. When you are ready, we bag up the suit, give you instructions for care and you get to step into the next chapter of your life: the wedding chapter.
The suit you help create is made for your exact body. It fits you because it is truly yours. The colors, the lining, the design, they are all exactly what you want.
Yes, we are creating your wedding suit, but more importantly, we are creating an outfit that helps reflect how you see yourself on the inside. A suit that brings you confidence and joy and feels like you.
