As a hint of Fall begins to arrive, it’s time to talk about my favorite Fall Fashion Trend…the overcoat. To me a great coat is like your favorite fall blanket or cup of steaming beverage. It’s cozy, keeps you warm, and lets you express your personality.
Oversized is still in the Picture
The trend of oversized is now moving to oversized jackets. These jackets are not just oversize in sizing, but also in material. Jackets that have a quilted look, puffer jackets, and padded jackets are all fashionable for fall. Pick a style and color that speaks to you. Remember it’s important that you feel amazing in whatever you are wearing.
Leather is a returning Fall Fashion Trend
Often associated with fall, the leather jacket is back this season. Biker Jackets and Bombers are both popular jacket options. While brown and black are classic leather colors, don’t be surprised to see leather jackets in a wide assortment of colors and styles. Their versatility enables you to dress them down and up depending on the occasion. Going casual? Pair a leather jacket in a bold color with a graphic tee and jeans. Need to dress it up? Opt for a traditional black or brown paired with a crisp, white shirt and a pair of expertly tailored dress pants. Want the leather look without using actual leather? Pleather Jackets are also on point this season.
Black with a Twist
Dressing from head to toe in black is something you will also see in fall and winter. This includes sporting a chic overcoat. Your options for style are limitless and can vary based on your outfit. But if you are looking for a statement piece, a black leather extra long trench coat may just be exactly what you need.
Fall Fashion Trend: The Trench Coat is a Classic
There is something quintessentially fall about a trench coat. This year, extra long tench coats are on point. They are lightweight enough to allow layering with your favorite fall outfit keeping you safe and warm from the elements. Found in a variety of colors, camel suede and black leather trenches are great options. Although trench coats generally have some detailing, this season the detailing is elevated. Accents to help the trench coat look even more tailored and sophisticated will be seen in many designers’ creations.
The Classic Blazer
I would be amiss not to mention the classic blazer. As mentioned in Part 2 of this series, business wear is having a moment. You can find the tailored look in overcoats of various styles, but no where is this more true than a custom tailored blazer. Perfect for the start of fall, blazers offer comfort while being lightweight enough to handle slightly warmer temperatures than a full blown winter coat. This is also a fun outerwear look that allows you to play with details. Craft your blazer with a fun liner and contrasting buttons, which are also in style this season, to make it truly one of a kind.
There you have it! The last in the three part Fall Fashion Series. If you missed Part 1 or Part 2 be sure to check them out.
